Contemporary OB/GYN congratulates Founding Editor John T. Queenan, MD, on the lifetime achievement award presented to him at the 9th Philadelphia Prenatal Conference. Held June 8 to 10 in the city for which it was named, the event was jointly sponsored by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Philadelphia Prenatal Diagnosis Institute/The Philadelphia pregnancy, Genetics and Ultrasound Center.
During the conference, internationally and nationally renowned experts presented updates on current screening and testing recommendations and cutting-edge information on advances in in obstetrics, maternal-fetal medicine, prenatal genetics and prenatal ultrasound diagnosis. Included were lectures on topics such as preimplantation genetic screening and diagnosis, the future of fetal cardiovascular imaging, and re-engineering fetal monitoring as well as hands-on practice with fetal ultrasound.
A presentation on Rh alloimmunization was given by Dr. Queenan, whose illustrious career has included pioneering work in prevention and management of the disease and research in ultrasound and fetal physiology. Also honored with a lifetime achievement award at the event was Maria New, MD, of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, who gave a presentation on the added value of noninvasive prenatal diagnosis for congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
