Dr Lockwood reflects on the potential challenges of 2016.

As 2015 came to a close, Contemporary OB/GYN's editor-in-chief penned a list of 10 resolutions to work on in 2016. 

 

 

No. 10: Thank March of Dimes for helping get preterm birth rate <10%.  http://ow.ly/VqR6M

 

 

No. 9: Elevate the discourse and tone of political discussions.

 

 

No. 8: Eliminate all tobacco use by all pregnant women. http://ow.ly/VwOVl

 

No. 7: Teach residents to use forceps & do vaginal hysterectomies again. http://ow.ly/VwOMW

 

 

No. 6: Let patients-not the US Food and Drug Administration- decide if morcellation is worth the risk. http://ow.ly/VqTAQ

 

No. 5: Up HPV vaccinations; end US cervical cancer deaths. http://ow.ly/FZD8d

 

 

No. 4: Make legislators go to med school before writing laws telling MDs how to practice.

 

 

No. 3: Don’t let tribalism trump globalism – we are our brother’s keeper.

 

 

No. 2: Peg National Institutes of Health funding to 0.25% of gross domestic product to keep up with EU and China.

 

 

 

No. 1: Remember why you went into ob/gyn; it’s still the best field!
