Charting tops the list, according to an informal survey conducted by Medical Economics (12/17/04). The unscientific Web poll found that 44% of respondents said chart completeness and legibility made them feel most vulnerable to a malpractice suit. Other areas of concern include test result reporting (22%), informed consent issues (15%), and drug allergy episodes (7%). The remaining 12% of respondents said nothing makes them feel vulnerable to medical malpractice suits.
