by Anne Montgomery
I have recently received a book for review that I would like to share with you. The Editor is Anne Montgomery, a physician in Olympia who is also IBCLactation Consultant. She and her advisory team have produced a wonderful resource that is a 'must have' for parents, health practitioners and childbirth educators to review and have available for their clients.
The name of the book is: Having Children: The Best Resources to Help You Prepare, Second Edition. This group has taken on the monumental task of reviewing the many books, CDs and Web Sites that address concerns of women surrounding pregnancy. In addition to page long reviews of each resource, the Review team rates the particular resource, and gives a star rating. There were 11 reviewers on the team, with a wide variety of skills and experience. There are very clear-cut reasons for giving a book or a site a less than great rating, and you will find many of your favorites listed as 4 star ! Some of the resources are classic old favorites, that still seem timeless. Others are new and current books. The book includes over 200 reviews of resources readily available to consumers and professionals. The books are presented in order of the reviewers viewpoints and rating, and organized by topic. In the back is are indexes by title, author, subject, publisher and a Media index. One section has over 60 organizations for reference.
This is a truly current and useful resource and can be useful for parents, childbirth educators and health professionals.
So, again, the book is: :
