First presented in 1985, the honor of the Distinguished Surgeon Award is granted to an individual who has made a positive impact on the field of gynecologic surgery or mentoring.
CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Contemporary OB/GYN®, a multimedia platform that provides obstetricians and gynecologists with expert advice and critical articles from top-tier physician-authors, is excited to announce that deputy editor, Jon I. Einarsson, MD, MPH, has been honored with the Distinguished Surgeon Award by The Society of Gynecologic Surgeons (SGS). Einarsson has served as deputy editor of Contemporary OB/GYN® since 2011.
The SGS seeks to promote excellence in gynecologic surgery through knowledge acquisition and improvement of skills, advancement of basic and clinical research, and professional and public education.
Each year, the organization holds an Annual Scientific Meeting, where a variety of awards are presented to nominated professionals in the field. All nominations are voted on by the SGS Board to determine the award winners.
“Dr. Einarsson’s recognition as the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons’ 2020 Distinguished Surgeon Award winner serves as a true testament to the impact he has had on the field of gynecology,” said Mike Hennessy Jr., president, and CEO of MJH Life Sciences™, the parent company of Contemporary OB/GYN®. “As we congratulate Dr. Einarsson on this prestigious honor, we look forward to collaborating with him as he continues to share the unique and actionable perspectives derived from his clinical experiences.”
The Distinguished Surgeon Award winner is selected by the current SGS president, based on contributions to the field of gynecologic surgery — clinically and/or through research and innovation.
First presented in 1985, the honor of the Distinguished Surgeon Award is granted to an individual who has made a positive impact on the field of gynecologic surgery or mentoring.
In his current role, Einarsson serves as the chief of the Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. His clinical interests include cervical insufficiency/incompetence, endometriosis, fibroids, laparoscopic surgery, LGBTQ health and prolapse.
“As deputy editor of Contemporary OB/GYN®, Dr. Einarsson’s clinical background allows him to address many of the thematic concerns shared by obstetricians and gynecologists,” said Aviva Belsky, group publisher of Contemporary OB/GYN®. “Recognized with this eminent industry honor, Dr. Einarsson continues to dedicate his professional career to positively impacting women’s health care and propelling the specialty forward.”
In addition to his recognition by the SGS, Einarsson was featured on Boston Magazine’s Top Doctors 2020 list and named to Castle Connolly Top Doctors.
