Award-winning one-handed forceps and scissors
The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons has named the RoBi rotating Bipolar Forceps and Scissors made by Karl Storz Endscopy-America, Inc., a "2005 Innovation of the Year," according to the company (Culver City, Calif.). The multifunctional instruments are designed to allow endoscopic surgeons to use one hand to perform secure grasping, blunt dissection, and bipolar coagulation of tissue between the instruments' jaws. RoBi hand instruments minimize lateral tissue damage and sticking of tissue. In addition, a robust hinge that's been incorporated into the wide-opening jaws of RoBi hand instruments permits better bipolar grasping. The fully rotational 360° sheath enhances maneuverability during surgery.
