Video Series: Dr. Adams-Waldorf on COVID-19 in pregnancy

In this video interview, Senior Editor Angie DeRosa talks with Dr. Kristina Adams Waldorf, who is a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Washington in Seattle and an expert in pregnancy infections.

She is an internationally recognized expert in pregnancy infections and a standing member of the National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development Obstetrics & Maternal-Fetal Biology Study Section. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists’ (ACOG) Zika Expert Working Group (ZEWG), which is an advisory group to ACOG on its Zika virus response efforts through collaborations with organizations including the Centers for Disease Control, American Academy of Pediatrics, and health departments.

Dr. Adams Waldorf is the principle investigator at the Adams Waldorf Research Lab at the University of Washington. Currently, the lab is conducting research on COVID-19 in pregnancy.

“Pandemics are with us and emerging pathogens are with us to stay,” Dr. Adams Waldorf has said. “If we can develop systems any infrastructure to study the effect of emerging pathogens on pregnant women and newborns then I think that we will save ourselves some effort for future pathogens.”
